AIPMT ADMISSION PROCESS

The central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Delhi, conducts the All India Pre-Medical Entrance Test (AIPMT) tentatively in the month of May for the 15% merit positions in the medical colleges of India as specified by the directive of the court and governed by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. The responsibility of the CBSE is limited to the conduct of the MBBS entrance test, declaration of result and providing merit list to the DGHS (Directorate General of Health Services, New Delhi) and participating States/Institutions/Universities.

The MBBS admission counselingfor eligible candidates under 15% All India Quota seats is conducted by the DGHS, whereas the counseling under the control of other participating States/Institutions/Universities is conducted as per the rules & regulations set by the authorities concerned. During the AIPMT counseling, the eligibility criteria, requisite documents, etc. of the merit listed candidates is verified by the respective authorities. Then, MBBS seats are allotted to the candidates in their preferred college and location except Jammu & Kashmir and Andhra Pradesh (these States had opted out of All India Scheme since its inception).

AIPMT Eligibility Criteria

    EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION

    • A candidate must have passed 2nd PUC or 10+2 higher secondary or equivalent examination, recognized by State / Central Government. The last two years of study shall comprise of Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB) with English as a compulsory subject.
    • The candidates must have passed these subjects (PCB) individually and must have obtained at least 50% of marks taken together in PCB (40% in the case of SC/ST/OBC).

    AGE

    • The candidates must have completed the age of 17 years on or before 31st December of the year of admission.
    • The upper age limit for candidates seeking MBBS admission is 25 years (30 years in the case of SC/ST/Other Backward Classes) as on 31st December of the year of admission.

AIPMT ADMISSION PROCESS

Note: In order to be eligible for counseling, the candidates must have secured not less than 50% marks (40% marks in the case of SC/ST/OBC) in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together in the AIPMT exam.

    DOCUMENTS TO BE CARRIED DURING MBBS ADIMISSION COUNSELING

    • Exam Hall Ticket.
    • Score Card/Rank Card.
    • Mark Sheets of the qualifying examination.
    • Original Degree/ Provisional certificates.
    • School (X Class) certificate as proof of date of birth.
    • Community Certificate (Issued by the competent authority)

    RESERVATION OF MBBS SEATS IN 15% ALL INDIA QUOTA

    • 15% seats are reserved for SC candidates
    • 7.5% seats are reserved for ST candidates
    • 27% seats are reserved for other backward classes in central educational institutions.
    • 3% seats are reserved for physically challenged candidates.

    MBBS SEAT SELECTION PROCESS

      The AIPMT admission counseling is conducted in three rounds by the Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) and Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). The process involves the following stages.

    • Main counseling registration.
    • Exercising of choices, indicative seats and locking of choices.
    • First round of counseling
      • a) According to order of merit, the candidates will have to select MBBS seat based on their options mentioned during registration.
      • b) Remittance of MBBS fee.
      • c) Issue of allotment letter
      • d) Reporting at the allotted college.
    • After the completion of the first round of MBBS seat selection, unfilled MBBS seats, if any, will be offered to the candidates during the second round of MBBS admission counseling. The candidates who have not selected a seat during the first round can also attend this round. The seat selection process remains same for new candidates.
    • After the second round of counseling, there will be fresh exercising and locking of choices by all the eligible candidates for the third round of counseling. The seat selection process during the third round of counseling remains same as the first round.
